Outlook is part of a series of paintings I made about a camping trip. In the last couple of years I have painted while camping and have absolutely loved it. On our recent trip I didn’t take any painting materials partly due to no time and just thought I would have a break. So instead I took (even more) photos and made little landscape vignettes in photos. I took some of my favourite ones and painted them.

This painting ‘Outlook’ and was a place we drove to the top of the mountain in a little town and we almost had a 360 view!!! This vista caught my eye. I loved the dirt road just peaking out in this landscape. There was no other sign of human life except for a couple of dots in the distance of houses.

I love camping and being outdoors. The green open spaces, cool nights and sunset skies are all so wonderful. This piece also made me think about the outlook of my life, where I was headed and where I had been. And everyone’s outlook on life.  It made me think about the last two years and the uncertain times that came with it. The outlook seemed bleak at times and this vista would have helped recharge and relax many of us.
