My Pop Solo Exhibition in September in Paddington, Brisbane was a great success. A number of works sold on the opening night and I am delighted to tell you commissions were requested. So I’ve been working – a lot!

I want to thank all those who took up my invitation to ‘come along and see the blue hills’ which grew into the “Landscape Reflections”. The room was full, in face we spilled onto the footpath and a great time was had by all!

There were 12 paintings in total – mostly (90 x 90 cm) and I included a couple of larger ones 180 x 100cm – two of which have now gone to Martine Gallery in Sydney. It was such a happy night. So many guests said they could feel the positive energy in the room. Me too.

I have some special ‘Thank You’s to make. So many lovely people helped me get it all together on time. It’s a bit like it takes a village to raise a child. I most certainly could not have achieved it on my own.

Special mentions… Thank you Michelle Carter for encouraging me have the Pop Up Exhibition and supporting me. Thank you Yvonne Mills for all your invaluable advice! Thank you to the beautiful tribe of Oakleigh Mums for supporting me, I’m truly thankful. Kristy Smith you rock and your support and help has been invaluable and amazing! So good. Thank you Kerrie Morrison, for being a great friend.

Nicole Culey from Seek Interiors thank you for the use of the beautiful space. And thank you to my family for their continual encouragement, belief in me, support, babysitting, school pick-ups especially in the last 2 weeks .. and the list goes on. I couldn’t have done this without you, Mum and Lee.

And finally, my dear, amazing husband Neil, his love and support is incredible. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

One of the most exciting things was seeing my work on the walls of this great space. Here’s a few of them for you to enjoy.

After the excitement and energy of the opening night, it was equally enjoyable, although a different experience, to welcome visitors in the quieter environment over the week end.  I had time to chat to people about my work and discuss some of their reactions.  A painting (or any piece of art for that matter) is such a personal interpretation – an emotional reaction by the individual. It can provoke memories, startle someone into a recognition of new ideas, help soothe and relax us in our busy lives.  I love hearing people’s responses to my work.  It is part of the reason why we make it in the first place. Thank you to those who shared these moments with me. I learnt such a lot from each and every one of you.

Now . . .  what next?

First up, it was school holidays just after the exhibition so I had the chance to spend some time with my darling girls, and a chance to say a big thank you to my dear husband for all his help – an endurance of my stress at times – lets me honest!!

I’ve now headed back into my studio – working, working, working.  It’s not only the paintings – it’s the ideas, the concepts and research. There are multiple tasks; planning, identifying priorities, networking, financial assessment.  And thinking! Contemplating, imagining, dreaming.  I don’t want to ever stop imagining. Last but not least, the brush on the canvas…

I hope you’re imagining too.
