I often get asked if people can buy my working drawings/sketches/paintings which surprised me a bit at first but they do have that immediate and very expressive capture that is really great. Seeing I had just finished the series ‘Afternoon Walks: Girraween’ and was about to embark on lots of sketching/drawing/painting for the next series, I came up with the idea of Studio Thursdays.
How does it work? On Thursdays, I load approximately 6 pieces onto Instagram throughout the day and all you have to do is comment SOLD if you want to buy one! They are $100 each (including postage. International available for extra fee), 29.7 x 42cm (A3) in size and I contact the you, the buyer, by direct message for postage and payment details. Easy! So instead of scraps of paper and a couple of unfinished lines I did more finished pieces.
When I start of new series I really push the boundaries on what I would like to make work about and use all sorts of different styles I’ve been interested in, get all my ideas out from all corners of my brain, different subject matters, colours … so there is really something for everyone! It’s fantastic! I’m having a great time exploring ideas and you guys, my gorgeous clients, are getting a great artwork for a great price! I love it, I truly do. I love getting art out there and making homes truly yours. More art in the world I say, there’s never enough and makes everyone so happy. So get on board people! What has also been really nice is started painting banksias I photographed at Girraween so it was a follow on from that series … and then I went off on the flowers! I had so many flowers and photos of flowers I had wanted to paint over the years so embraced it and off I went. What’s your favourite flower? Would you like it painted to have on your wall permanently? I’d love to paint this for you.
